Jack L. Thompson Sr was born on March 27, 1931 to the union of Alberta Minton - Thompson and Willie B. Thompson of Plum, Texas in Fayette County.

Jack accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. Jack received his formal education and before he could graduate he was drafted into the United States Army on October 10,1952. He served as a First Class Private and was stationed in Korea for most of his military career. On October 24, 1953 Jack married the love of his life Earnestine Hardeman. To this union was born seven children. Jack was employed as a construction worker with many construction companies. You can see his work whenever you drive downtown Austin.

Jack L.Thompson Sr. is preceded in death by his Father Willie B. Thompson, Mother Alberta Thompson Drisdale, three brothers: Lindsey Thomas, Eddie Thomas, Wille B. Thompson Jr and one grandson Sylvester Thompson (aka Boss Hog). Jack L. Thompson Sr. leaves to cherish his legacy his wife Earnestine Thompson, of Smithville, Texas; one son, Jack L Thompson Jr., six daughters, Carolyn Ann Thompson, Evangelist Beulah L. Baylor, Vera Thompson and Elaine Blue (all of Austin, Texas), Rev. Samella Williams (Butch) of Flatonia, Texas and Patricia Castillo (Frank) of Denton, Texas, one sister, Louise Leonard, one brother, Lonnie Drisdale (Justice), Twenty-one grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, friends and family in Smithville, Texas and surrounding communities who will cherish his memories forever.
