La Vonne Crittendon

January 26, 1969 ~ March 15, 2015 (age 46) 46 Years Old


On a beautiful evening on the 26th day of January, 1969 at 6:45 a bouncing baby girl was born to Marion Elaine Thomas and Owen Leroy Crittendon at Brackenridge Hospital. They Name her La Vonne  Latrice Crittendon and she was affectionately nicknamed "Precious"! La Vonne was the only child born to this union.

La Vonne graduated from Lyndon Baines Johnson High School, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the East side Church of Christ at a very early age. La Vonne later recurred her faith in Christ at St. James Baptist Church before moving to Dallas, Texas where she was a devoted member of Vineyard Worship Center. 

La Vonne was passion about life, placing great value on God, family and friends. La Vonne had a smile that was contagious she never met a stranger. She gave herself unselfishly and held a genuine concern for others. La Vonne was extremely athletic and shared her knowledge and experiences for ten years witht he greater East Austin Youth Association. La Vonne enjoyed all sports activities and has many trophies to reflect her achievements. When La Vonne was not at a sporting event she was on the trail rides with her Straight Kountry Trail riding family. La Vonne faithfully supported and encouraged her grandchildren in their sports activities. She was their "Greatest Fan"!

La Vonne started her first job at fifteen years of age and held a very high value in work ethics. La Vonne was a great cook and had a passion for providing high quality food. She held management  and supervisory positions at Sonic, Mc Donald's and Dell Children's Hospital Dinning Hall. A the time of La Vonne's demise she was a sous-chef at Sage School in Dallas, Texas and chef with Legends Hospitality at Dallas Cowboys Stadium where she recently received a promotion. La Vonne has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her culinary journey such as being recognized as "The Employee That Always Went he Extra Mile with a Smile" and a member of the Main South VIP Kitchen awarded "Best Kitchen" on game day. Go Cowboys! La Vonne was an avid Cowboy fan; she loved her Dallas Cowboys!

On March 15, 2015 in Dallas, Texas La Vonne received her wings and found peace that surpasses all understanding and ceased the suffering of this world departing this earthly life. She was preceded in death by her father , Owen Leroy Crittendon; Grand Parents, Mary Lou Thomas, Clarence Lee Thomas Sr and Albert J. Crittendon Sr.; Aunt Clarisse T Perkins; Uncles Clarence Lee Thomas Jr, Lee Arthur Thomas Sr, Don Charles Thomas Sr, Marshall Colvin and Marvin Thomas.

La Vonne leaves to cherish her memories her Mother, Marion Elaine Thomas (Kenneth) of Austin, Texas; Grandmother, Ereline H. Gipson of Austin, Texas; Children, Marjahn L. Moore of Dallas, Texas; Kevin L. Haywood Jr. of Austin, Texas; and Phillip J. Johnson Jr. of Dallas, Texas; Aunts, Bertha Hill and Evette Gibson both of Austin, Texas;  Uncles A.J. Crittendon, Leslie and Wesley Thomas all of Austin, Texas; Special Cousin, ,Michelle L. Thomas of Austin, Texas; Partner in life, John Ray Henderson of Dallas, Texas.

Grandchildren, Darion B. Moore, Dakorien L. C. Moore, Dailon L.L. Brown all of Dallas, Texas; Phillip J. Johnson III of Austin, Texas; Jaslyn L. Haywood and Elijah K. Haywood both of Stafford Virginia. Step-sisters Lisa Robertson and Vinikka Miller; Step-brothers Gerald Sheppard, Blake Hunter and Kenneth Miller Jr. all of Austin, Texas.
