Naomi Cleveland Obituary

Naomi Willie Cleveland, “Slim”, peacefully passed away On December 11, 2022, at the tender age of 72.

Naomi was born on Nov. 22, 1950, in Cedar Creek, Texas to the late Willie Mae Cleveland and her father, and she was affectionately loved by her seven brothers and sisters.

Naomi attended/graduated from Old Anderson High School in Austin, Texas, where she developed a passion for playing softball and hanging out with family and friends. She was a competitive player and was a regular at the most popular fast pitch softball fields available to Austinites (Krieg and Pleasant Valley fields), until she became immobile and required knee surgery; but she never lost love for the game.

Naomi worked for the University of Texas in the cafeteria for many years and it was there that she became a loyal Texas Longhorn (Hook’em) and Dallas Cowboys fan (We Them Boys).

She was a beautiful person who spread joy & happiness to everyone and would go out of her way to help anyone in need.

Naomi is survived by her daughter Sylvia Cleveland and a son Terrance Cleveland (Hope Cleveland), her brothers Willie Cleveland (Jean Cleveland) and Jonny Cleveland (Eddie Faye Cleveland) and sisters Hallie V Tennon (Lavell E Tennon) and Joeann Johnson (Roscoe Shelby). Six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.

She is proceeded in death by her mother Willie Mae Cleveland, her brothers Andrew Cleveland (Mary Cleveland) and Charles Cleveland (Shirley Cleveland).

The family would like to thank New Century Hospice and Heritage Park Rehabilitation Nursing Home for taking really good care of our mother and for being there when she needed them.

“You are forever in our hearts; you are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure”
